Why movement matters:
Did you know that small bursts of movement throughout the working day can help boost energy, improve focus and support our physical and mental wellbeing?
Yet many jobs involve spending prolonged periods in the same position. In fact, 81% of UK office workers spend between 4–9 hours sitting at their desk each day, equating to an average of 67 sedentary days per person each year.
Join the Movement Matters Challenge
From 20–24 July, we’re inviting workplaces to take part in the Movement Matters Challenge and encourage employees to build more movement into their working day.
Whether you’re taking part as an individual or getting your whole team involved, we’d love to see how you’re moving more at work.
How to take part
- Choose one (or more) of the following movement challenges to complete during the week.
- Take a 20 minute walk on your lunch break
- Swap a meeting for a walking meeting
- Take a 10-minute stretch break
- Take a photo or short video of your challenge and share it on LinkedIn using #MovementMattersChallenge and tagging Rise Workplace Wellbeing.
We’re looking forward to seeing how you’re bringing more movement into your working day. Small changes really can make a big difference!
